Delete your Briefly account
This page explains how to delete your account in Briefly, the podcast app published by Briefly Apps Inc., and what happens to your data when you do. You can delete your account in the app at any time, or ask us to do it for you by email.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Briefly and go to the Home tab.
- Tap your profile picture at the top of the screen to open your profile.
- Tap the settings gear next to Edit and Share.
- Tap All settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Advanced.
- Tap Delete account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Deletion starts straight away and cannot be undone. You are signed out when it finishes.
Ask us to delete your account
If you no longer have the app, or can't sign in, email support@briefa.net from the email address on your Briefly account, with the subject "Delete my account".
We will confirm that the account is yours before deleting anything (we may reply to that address and ask you to confirm). We complete verified requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What we delete
When your account is deleted, we permanently delete:
- your sign-in account and email address
- your profile: name, handle, bio, profile photo and profile links
- the shows and people you follow, and the people who follow you
- your saves, likes, reposts and the Briefs you sent or received
- your listening history and playback progress
- your interests, imported shows and feed preferences
- your notification settings and the push tokens for your devices
- reports you made, and blocks and mutes you set
- the in-app activity we store with your account (plays, skips, completions and similar)
What we keep
- Crash reports. Our crash reports never contain your name or email, and they are deleted automatically within 90 days.
- Sponsor counts. Views and taps on sponsor cards stay in our totals, but no longer linked to you.
- Podcasts you uploaded. If you uploaded a podcast to Briefly yourself, it stays available to other listeners but is no longer linked to your account. Email us if you want it removed.
- Backups. Our database provider keeps encrypted backups for disaster recovery. Your data rolls out of them on their normal schedule, within 30 days.
- Records the law requires. If we are legally required to keep a record (for example, to respond to a legal claim), we keep only that record, only for as long as required.
